Greetings!
I am Rev. John Bain and I am thrilled to be the Pastor of FCC Las Vegas.
I was born and raised in North Central Montana, the oldest of five children. I received undergraduate degrees from the University of Montana and Northwest Christian College(now University). I received my MDIV from Brite Divinity School at TCU. I have served congregations in Texas, Virginia, Montana, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Ronni, my spouse of over thirty years, and I are the proud parents of three children, all of whom are now grown and finding their way in the world. Ronni is originally from Saint Joseph, Missouri. We met in seminary and have been on this life-long adventure of church most of our adult lives. Our oldest, Danelle lives in Brooklyn, New York. Our oldest son lives in Emporia, Kansas and our youngest, Micah and his wife Lilia live in Wichita, Kansas.
When not being actively engaged in ministry, I like to get three or four miles in a day either walking or running. I am so looking forward to exploring all the trails and venues to do that on in this area. I enjoy reading-particularly Historical Fiction, playing the piano and am currently learning to play the guitar. I also enjoy baking on occasion. In the past I have also been engaged in community theater and now Ronni and I are looking forward to taking advantage of the many plays and entertainment opportunities available to us here.
The both of us are looking forward to growing in faith and faithfulness alongside this great congregation as together we learn to more fully live out our calling in this movement of God for wholeness in a fragmented world.
Grace and peace to all,
John
Timothy Cooper
Director of Music Ministries
Timothy Cooper has been renowned throughout the Las Vegas music scene for more than thirty years, having performed as a keyboardist, composer and conductor for numerous shows from The Strip to Spring Mountain Ranch. He has created and produced the original scores for The Aladdin’s Abracadabra, The Luxor’s Winds of the Gods and the Excalibur’s King Arthur’s Tournament, where his music has been enjoyed by over thirteen million people. He has been profiled in Keyboard Magazine, detailing the compositional techniques and unique operating systems he employs with his compositions. In 1997 Timothy was selected to compose the Roman Catholic Mass for the installation of The Diocese of Las Vegas. He has been music director for First Christian Church since 2013 where the Chancel Choir was recently invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. Though he keeps a busy production schedule in his studio, Tim still finds time to enjoy foreign travel, astronomy and four-wheeling throughout the Sierras, the Mojave Desert and Nevada’s Great Basin.
Gaynor Young
Church Secretary
Gaynor is from England (probably related to the Queen) and is usually the first voice that you hear on the phone. Before coming to work for the church, she worked in operations for McCarran Airport -- so she's awesome at multi-tasking. She's a huge fan of science fiction.
